Artificial Intelligence, Productivity and Security - discover the innovations for 2024

During Microsoft Ignite 2023, Microsoft's main business conference, the company announced more than 100 new tools and features to drive the transformation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in organizations, from adoption to productivity and security.

The conference shared the advances being developed to help customers, partners, and developers make the most of Microsoft technology and transform the way work is done. We highlight the following:

  • Rethinking cloud infrastructure
Microsoft has led prominent innovations, such as partnerships with OpenAI and integrating ChatGPT functionalities into tools used for research, collaboration, work, and learning. As AI evolves, Microsoft is rethinking Cloud infrastructure to ensure optimization across all hardware and software stack layers.

  • Extending the Microsoft Copilot experience
Microsoft is extending its Microsoft Copilot offerings to all solutions to transform productivity and business processes for all roles and functions.

Microsoft's efforts to simplify the user experience and make Copilot more accessible to everyone start with Bing, such as Bing Chat and Bing Chat Enterprise.

  • Strengthening the link between data and AI
One of Microsoft's goals is to create a simple, integrated experience for connecting data to AI tools such as Microsoft Fabric, a platform that brings together the main data engineering, science, and analysis tools, allowing all of a company's data to be integrated in one place.

  • Unlocking more value for developers with Azure AI
Microsoft is expanding the options for generative AI models for developers by introducing Model-as-a-Service to the Build portfolio. This makes it easier to integrate models such as Meta's Llama 2 and future premium models from Mistral and Jais from G42. Developers can customize these models with their data, eliminating the worry about configuring and managing the GPU infrastructure.

Azure AI Studio, now in preview, offers a unified platform for exploring, creating, testing, and deploying AI applications. Developers can create and train their copilots or use open-source models with user data. Vector Search, a feature of Azure AI Search, is widely available, enabling highly accurate experiments in generative AI applications.

  • New Windows experiences to empower employees, IT teams and developers
Microsoft continues to invest in the development of Windows, aiming to empower people in the transition to AI. During the Ignite event, the company announced new experiences in Windows 11 and Windows 365, designed to enable IT teams and employees to explore new ways of working, making AI more accessible on any device.

  • Launch of NVIDIA's AI Foundry service
Intending to support companies and startups in developing customized AI models on Microsoft Azure, NVIDIA is launching its AI Foundry service on Azure. This service combines NVIDIA AI Foundation models, the NVIDIA NeMo framework and tools, and NVIDIA DGX Cloud AI supercomputing and services, providing companies with a complete solution for creating customized generative AI models. Companies can then deploy these models with NVIDIA AI Enterprise software on Azure to power generative AI applications such as intelligent search, summarization, and content generation.

  • Strengthening Defenses in the Age of AI
Microsoft is launching innovative technologies to strengthen security against threats. Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender XDR come together to create the industry's first Unified Security Operations Platform, incorporating Security Copilot. This solution, powered by generative AI, simplifies the defense environment, protecting against threats with the speed of automation.

Microsoft Ignite 2023 saw more than 100 innovations presented, shaping the future of artificial intelligence and security. From redefining Cloud infrastructure to strategic partnerships with NVIDIA, Microsoft demonstrated a clear commitment to driving digital transformation. The emphasis on accessibility, productivity, and security reinforces the company's position at the forefront of the technological revolution, shaping a future where AI drives innovation and protects against emerging threats.
